Welcome to the link page for the images of Bernard Siegfried Albinus' Anatomical engravings from his 1747 edition of the Tabulae Sceleti et Musculorum Corporis Humani. The volume was printed in Leyden in the Netherlands and his engraver was Jan Wandelaar, whose idea it was to put in the backgrounds behind the bodies to supply a figure/ground relationship, to lend scale to the figures of the skeletons and bodies, and to give aesthetic value and visual interest to the engravings.
